Comment: This specimen has been identified as P. spina in the following publication: Burns, John McLauren, Daniel H. Janzen, and Winifred Hallwachs 2010. Of many similar species in the Neotropical genus Porphyrogenes (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae), a new one, repeatedly reared in Costa Rica, is relatively distinct. Proceedings of the entomological Society of Washington 112(1): 32-42, 20 figs., 1 tab. p. 41-42. However, wing shape does not match that of P. spina holotype. The wings are rounder, not as elongated, and tornus of the hindwing is less produced.
