=    maritima (W. H. Edwards, 1880)

Original Combination: [Satyrus Alope] variety Maritima (but under Satyrus Nephele)

Type Locality: “somewhere between New York and Illinois...to and on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains”; defined as “Chicago, Illinois” by F. Brown (1964), Trans. Am. Entomol. Soc. 90(4): 376, 378. [Cook County]

Types: Lectotype in CMNH, designated by F. Brown (1964), Trans. Am. Entomol. Soc. 90(4): 378, fig. 19 ♂ D&V.

Iftner et al. (1992), Ohio Biol. Surv. Bull., n. s. 9(1): 147-148, suggested that the name olympus represents part of the variation seen in nephele and is a synonym of that name, together with the taxon borealis (see below).
