Original Combination: Butleria penaea

Type Locality: “Sierra de Guerrero, Mexico”

Types: Holotype (#21210) in USNM.

Opler and A. Warren (2002), Sci. Names List Butts. N. A.: 8, applied this name to the skipper previously reported (from Texas) as Piruna microsticta (Godman, 1900), in: Godman & Salvin, Biol. centr.-amer., Lep. Rhop. 2(156): 464, no. 1; 3: pl. 92, figs. 1 ♂ (not ♀) D, 2 ♂ (not ♀) V, 3 ♂ D.
