Original Combination: Polythrix mexicanus

Type Locality: “Seven miles south of Valles (grounds of Hotel Covadonga), San Luis Potosi, Mexico”

Types: Holotype in AMNH, as noted by H. Freeman (1989), J. Lepid. Soc. 43(3): 244.

Species-genus gender conformation is mexicana.
