Callophrys spinetorum spinetorum HOLOTYPE ♀ USA: CALIFORNIA, Sierra Co., Sierra Nevada, near Gold Lake, vicinity of Gold Lake Lodge [USNM]. The name "spinetorum" was given by Boisduval in a manuscript. Hewitson published this name, description and illustration based on this specimen in 1867, while Boisduval published his manuscript in 1869. Thus the name is credited to Hewitson.
