Esthemopsis pherephatte ♂ Brazil: Para, old, leg. Sieber [MFNB]. A specimen labeled opites N[ew] by Carl Heinrich Hopffer (1810 - 1876, a curator at MFNB), who questioned that it was the same species as opites Hewitson.
